about

The Atlantics were the first Australian artists to write and record their own composition that went on to become a number one hit on the Australian music charts. It also achieved considerable international success. That song of course was Bombora – released in 1963.

60 years later the band is still writing and recording their own material. Still Making Waves is an exciting collection of all-new songs, riffs, chords, and drumbeats.

All of The Atlantics magic is definitely still there.

However, one song demands special mention – the last track Stranger in Mykonos. It was recorded in 2013 but never released and the drummer at that time was of course Peter Hood. It was the last song ever recorded by Peter with the band. Sadly, Peter passed away in 2021. But what better way to close out the album than with this track.
Rest In Peace my friend. You will always be the heartbeat of The Atlantics.

about

The Atlantics Sydney, Australia

Think surf rock classics and a few songs come to mind. The Surfari’s Wipeout, Dick Dale’s Miserlou, Pipeline by the Chantays and of course Bombora, by Australia’s own, Atlantics.

Virtually the only successful first wave surf instro band not from America. Echoing the Shadow’s Twangy Atmospheric Instrumental Sound, they became a household name with the release of their giant hit Bombora in 1963.
